12/9/14 - CQ was called for the net at 21:00 with 10 check-ins including net control.  Kent, KQ4KK reminded us about the DSTAR University on January 17, 2014  on the USC-Aiken Campus from 12 Noon to 5PM with a GREAT, free course - that's right, the course is FREE!  There will also be several valuable and useful door prizes as well.  In addition, there will be a presentation/comparison made on DSTAR, DMR and other digital modes - Don't miss it!  Contact Kent to register - kq4kk@arrl.net.  Chris, KK4NXA reminded us about the Augusta ARC Christmas Party on December 12, 2014 at the H2U building located in back of Doctors Hospital 1305 Interstate Pkwy Augusta, Georgia 30909 Talk-In: 145.490(-) PL: 71.9 Hz  and also about the ARRL 10 Meter contest meet-up at Gregg Park Civic Center 119A Trolley Line Road, Graniteville, SC 29829 Talk-In: 145.490(-) PL: 71.9 Hz on Saturday, December 13 starting at 10AM.

The training topic tonight was the SCHEART linking repeater system.  Kent, KQ4KK gave a history, purpose and structure of the two systems, VHF and UHF.  It was very informative and demonstrated how simple it is for Amateurs to connect to other repeaters across the state at any time.  In addition to emergency services, the system is VERY useful for travelers d those wishing to check conditions, events across the state.  Kent also let us know that the Beech Island repeater repair crew installed 550 feet. of new hard line.  The Edgefield repeater should be linked into the SCHEART system this week and that will give us access to 2 local VHF and 2 UHF SCHEART repeaters.  We are indeed fortunate to have access to such a great resource for the Amateur community.

The Net concluded at 21:31 - Great topic and presentation, Kent - THANKS MUCH!  Thanks again to all the stations who checked in this evening and those who listened in.
